Septic tank risers are a real blessing when your septic tank needs servicing. They are designed to bring the opening of your septic tank up to or above grade, making accessing and servicing your tank quick and easy and making sure you don’t have to worry about your yard being dug up when something goes wrong with your system.
Unfortunately, while septic risers are practical, they’re not incredibly pretty. If you have an above ground septic riser, you may be looking for ways to conceal it or help it blend better into your landscaping. Luckily for you, there have been a few creative ways invented over the years to keep your septic tank accessible and your landscape eyesore free. 1. Use a decorative riser cover Don’t want to see your septic riser but still want it easily accessible? Use a decorative cover to hide it. These decorative covers are durable plastic and are shaped like large boulders mounding out of the earth. You can get them in several colors to match the natural landscaping and stone and they are easy to install: just plop it right in place over your septic riser and you’re done! 2. Use a birdbath Give your feathered friends someplace to play while making your yard more beautiful by using a birdbath to cover your septic riser. Place the birdbath on top of the riser or just to the side and then incorporate a small garden bed around it to make it look more natural. 3. Decorate the riser cover If you don’t like the idea of covering your riser, consider decorating the cover itself. Paint it to match the color of your grass or use mosaic glass or bits of stone and glue to make your riser into a beautiful piece of art. Of course, be careful not to do any damage to the riser cover when embellishing it. 4. Plant something Use plants to help conceal your riser by planting a small, circular bed or raised plants around it. Keep in mind that the ground around the riser will be drier and should stay that way, so don’t plant any water hungry plants or plants with deep root systems. Look for native plants that require little maintenance so that you don’t have to dig around your riser.
